We have been having a great season so far, and have already competed in one tournament. Some of the team was able to go to a competition on Oct. 31st, and we were able to make it to semi-finals before we were eliminated.
Our robot has been steadily developing, and we now all of the basic components completed, and in working order. We have an arm that operates quite well, we have a chassis that has stood the test of time, we have a drive system that seems to be working flawlessly, and we have a bucket that works, but needs a lot of work. On the code side, the programmers were able to switch over to RobotC very easily, and we have a very complex code that has done everything we have asked it too do.
Thanks to some of our part-time mentors, Nathanael and Sam Miller, we were able to get our drive system done, and were able to apply Sam's Thesis to our design. His basic design was to use 4 Mecanum wheels on a robot, and his Thesis was on the drive system. As our robot used wheels similar to the ones he used, he helped us with the initial design and thinking through applying his work to our design.
We have a competition on Dec. 19th, and another one scheduled for Jan. 23rd. We are looking forward to both, and hope that we will be able to compete in them as successfully as the previous one. We learned a lot from it, and we are hoping that we will learn the same amount, or more from these two.
