Inspiring The Next Generation Of Scientists And Engineers

Julia's BioHi, my name is Julia Thompson. I am seventeen years old and am in the twelfth grade. I have been homeschooled all my life. I have two brothers and one sister.

I am involved in many activities. In karate I earned my black belt on 6-19-08, my sixteenth birthday. In church, I led the kids’ band, as well as help with the service. I am also active in the Mpact Girls Program, and on 9-13-09 I earned the Gold Medal of Honor.

I have been involved with robotics since 7th grade when I joined a FIRST Lego League team. I was on the FLL team for three years during which twice the team I was on took 2nd at the state competition. My parents started a high school robotics team so those of us who aged out of FLL could continue in robotics. This is my fourth year on the Twisted Bots. My reason for being on the Vex team is that I LOVE IT! Besides loving it, I enjoy anything that has to do with science or math (other than geometry), teamwork, building, and designing, and engineering.

Currently I am taking 14 credits at the local community and my GPA is 4.0. I will graduate from high school on 6-12-10 with over 40 college credits, and I plan to study mechanical engineering at either Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio, or at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terra Haute, Indiana.
